Our mental health peer support group is a gathering of individuals who come together to share their experiences and provide support to each other regarding mental health challenges.
Members of the groups typically have personal experience with mental health issues and offer empathy, understanding, and practical advice based on their own journeys.
The group creates a safe and non-judgmental space where participants can discuss their struggles, coping strategies, and progress.
The key goals of our mental health peer support group include:
- Providing emotional support and validation
- Sharing coping strategies and resources
- Reducing feelings of isolation and stigma
- Offering practical advice and encouragement
- Building a sense of community and mutual understanding
- Volunteers that support with the running of the group are fully training Mental Health First Aiders trained in peer support techniques, but they are distinct from professional therapy or counseling.
